In between houses living rooms in the city, it’s easy to see Indonesia shitnetron and just be okay with it. We all know its damaging effect to the society.
To see them playing yesterday in a living room of a house in Toro Subang, home of the most friendly, and uncorrupted group of children I have ever met, is a different matter. Seeing all the children there circling the TV set with the face of the evil mother in law zoomed in and out for ten times boiled my nerves.
I see first hand the damaging effect of the shitty programs we called television. The older kids often yelled “Begok loe!” to each other, while they talk in the most eastern Indonesian accent you have ever heard. Where could they pick that up, I wonder. Ajip told me there is an escalation of pregnancy outside marriage because of the TV shows that shows sexiness and all those out of marriage pregnancies you see daily in shows.
I don’t want Fitri, Hanna, Dirga all to grew up with those images.
